How to get to Camiguin Island

From Cagayan De Oro, you need to take a bus to Balingoan for more or less 2 hours and from Balingon, take a boat going to Camiguin. Travel time of the boat is 1 hour and 15 minuntes

PLACES TO VISIT IN CAMIGUIN ISLAND


KATIBAWASAN FALLS
A beautiful, clear stream of water cascading 70 meters into a rock pool surrounded by ground orchids, wild ferns, tress and boulders. Its cold water provides a refreshing summer splash to bathers and picnickers. For the more adventurous it is possible to rappel down the waterfall into the plunge pool below.


Location:5 kms southeast of Mambajao




TUASAN FALLS
The approach to the wild and mighty falls entails a very scenic hike passing through the quaint Barrio of Mainit, Catarman and along the rocky river bed. The pool below the waterfalls is deep and clear. The surrounding scenery is unspoiled and perfect for a peaceful picnic, the only sounds around you is that of the tumbling falls and running water.

STO. NIÑO COLD SPRING
It has a terrific huge pool of cold spring water measuring 25m x 40m sprouting from sandy bottom. The area has native stores, picnic huts and toilets picnickers.

Location: 4 kms north of central Catarman



TANGUB HOT SPRING
A volcanic hot spring below the sea bed. The small area is formed by a pool of sea stones and corals and is completely undeveloped. Water temperatures turn from cold to lukewarm, warm and hot as the tide changes. Sit in the water at lowish tide and enjoy the cold sea water as it mixes with the hot spring. Scuba diving is also good about 10-20m offshore with a gradual drop-off.

ESPERANZA ARDENT HOT SPRING
In the heart of the island bubbles this mineral pool with water around 40 degress Celsius. Mist rises from the heated waters that run down the vents of the dormant Hibok-Hibok volcano. The springs are ideal to bathe in at night surrounded by cool mountain air. It has therapeutic effects. Picnic huts and tables are available in the beautifully landscaped gardens and there is a restaurant on site.

BURA SODA WATER SWIMMING POOL
The one and only in the country where you can swim to a poll of soda water. It has great scenery over the fields and the seas as its cold water provide a refreshing splash to bathers and picnickers. Picnic huts and tables are available beside the pool.

MACAO COLD SPRING
Once you are near the spot, you will be amazed by the crystal blue coloured water. The pool is surrounded by huge trees, some of theme are more than century old.

WHITE ISLAND
An uninhabited white sandbar with the picturesque Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Old Volcano as its backdrop. The picturesque island is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling and viewing the sunrise and sunset over Camiguin.

Location: 2 kms across the sea from Agoho and Yumbing




MANTIGUE ISLAND
The island is 4 hectares of evergreen forest, fringed with white granule sand beaches. A fishing village is found in the north of the island. One side of the island is a white sand beach with coral offshore, and the other opposite side provides a deep drop-off for snorkeling and diving. One gets there by light water craft in 25-30 minutes from San Roque, Mahinog.

OLD VULCAN
The old volcano drops into the sea and makes a natural road high above the ocean. The place has a sheer drop-off of 80 meters; ledge shallow water and rocks to sit on and sunbathe. Rich corals abound in the ocean below.

Location: 13 kms west of Mambajao




TANGUINES LAGOON
A man-made lagoon mantled by limpid water, large cliffs and gently rolling hills. An ideal place to hire a boat and go fishing for the day.

Location: Benoni, Mahinog




BAYLAO CHURCH
The Church located in Brgy. Baylao in Mambajao is claimed to be miraculous attributed to saving many lives during the last volcanic eruption of Hibok-hibok.



SANTO ROSARIO CHURCH

Old Catarman Church 
The church of the Old Catarman town was destroyed and partly submerged by volcanic debris during the eruption and formation of Mt. Vulcan from 1871 to 1875. Also known as Gui-ob Church, only the ruins of the church and bell tower remains of the old town. An unsightly modern white lighthouse was recently erected close to the bell tower.






Sunken Cemetery
During the volcanic birth of Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871 to about 1875, some areas in the town of Bonbon subsided, sinking the cemetery of the town to below sea level. The place is commemorated by a huge cross erected in 1982.
